Okay I'll try these suggestions, just not yet. Started school today so it'll have to wait until the weekend. lol

Also, I guess it's not LoD, it's actually Word of Healing. I got them mixed up but I knew it was a big healing elite.

it aint that hard, just harder than other parts of Elona.
First time i went there, got my ass kicked a few times, you just need to adapt
The main prob might be heroes, change the builds your using, use more protect and curses. You can pack a pair of CC consumable just in case, even if you wont need it i'm sure. FYI: you dont need to clean this part in HM ^^

Besides, you have lvl 8 LB, that should make things even easier ^^

Pressure the monk(s), they'll go down fast.

You do know what pressuring is, right?

What's funny is all these "leet" people insulted Tenderwolf about being unable to interupt LoD... yet none of those "leet" idiots noticed that LoD isn't the elite used in RoT by demons. They just prefer to flame.

Anyway, I'll also be willing to help out if you have any questions. If you want to quest with me in game, my screen name is right over

Agreed.

When we were doing that HM mission in the realm of torment a few days back i used my lvl 3 LB dervish, and found it pretty easy with the right skills. Sure i died 3 times but the candy canes helped with DP

Having a better H/H setup will help you a lot.

RoT doesn't "need" to be changed. It's you, who needs to change. (aka get better)

Read the descriptions of the skills the monsters use, and make a build around them. Win win.

(that's not signed, if you didn't understand yet)

  • Domain of Fear - Move, attack, and activate skills 15% slower
  • Nightfallen Jahai - Skills are disabled for an additional 3 seconds

And there are probably more but I forgot them. And let's not forget this:

Big mobs of level 28 Torment creatures:
  • Shadow Monk - Word of Healing heals it and all other shadow creatures, and it's too fast to interrupt
  • Shadow Elemental - Fire Storm and Mind Blast will wipe the party quickly
  • Rain of Terror - same thing
  • Arm of Insanity - Barrage and Quickening Zephyr spirit, making skills cost even more energy while in Domain of Secrets
  • All Torment creatures - Call to the Torment

Combine all these up and the Realm of Torment really lives up to its name. Now normal mode was supposed to limit the groups of mobs to avoid aggro but they seem exactly the same to me. So each area of the Realm of Torment has some disadvantage environmental effect combined with mobs of level 28's out the whazoo, and Call to the Torment to make even more.
.
You know what you're up against, and that's the first step. Now lets break it down and give you some counters.

20 damage everytime you use a skill will require some good heals. You can try Vig Spirit so everytime you use a skill you're healed, or a spammable heal that costs no more than 5 energy. I may even suggest running an ether prodigy ele hero with heal party, so you can keep spamming it as a quick counter.

40% more energy--well if you're in an area with enviornmental effects like higher energy costs, take more energy management skills if possible, equip a high energy weapon set (if possible. I keep a +5 energy bow and sometimes a Zealous bow if I need an energy boost) adjust the attibutes you use (I saw you were a ranger, you can try to up your Expertise) or take skills that cost less to use. Do the math and know what skills you can use and when.

Slowed movement/skills disabled, again, use your skills wisely and plan positioning.

As for the enemies you're facing--WoH is giving you trouble, try running Broadhead Arrow, Concussion Shot or Choking Gas on your char or team member/heroes. Any of these 3 skills will help with all caster classes that are hurting you, not just the monks.

You can also combo a Mesmer team member/hero with either a Migraine/Arcane Conundrum build or Shame and Signet of Humility build and lock their target on the enemy monks. You can even try Scourge Healing if your comfortable doing so.

Drop QZ spirits asap, and drop the rangers running it. For Barrage use block skills like Aegis or Shield of Deflection on your team member/hero monks. Take advantage of armor vs piercing weapons/shields/offhands ect. if possible.

Take advantage of consumables like Power Stones and Candy Canes ect. Use a long bow or flat bow and pull accordingly to keep mobs to what you can handle. Flag heroes/heel pets while pulling.

RoT is one of the few PvE areas that required a little thought and planning, I like it just the way it is.

/not signed - RoT is fine as it is

That said, that's no excuse to flame the OP. Instead of avoiding being helpful (thanks to the few of you here who did post helpful comments), try to be a bit more helpful to those who you might consider "bad at the game". Trust me, it goes a long way.

Tender, if you need help, I too will offer my services. Pm me if you need me.

I believe that arguably the most important skill one can learn is the art of the pull. This is especially true for a ranger as the other members of your party know that you have a bow : ) The key is to watch the movement patterns of those mobs that are close together before you begin your pull. Choose where you want the fight to occur. Pay attention to terrain-remember your ranged weapons will reach further from high ground potentially giving you an extra second or two of attacking before your foe gets into range. High ground also has positive effect on your ranged weapon damage. Try to pull your foes to a wall or around a solid terrain obstacle. Anything that causes them to bunch up will increase your offensive efficiency (nukers and splinter barragers love bunched targets). Don't be afraid of long pulls. Sometimes you need to pull a mob halfway across the map (or so it seems) in order to make sure that you have breathing room for a fight. For such a pull make sure that your monks are up to the task of keeping you alive across such distances. A defensive stance of your own is a good idea here. I prefer to pull with a flatbow (very high arrow flight arc) so as to have time to pull back while the arrow is still in the air. Be careful though to make sure that your foes have actually aggroed. With a good pull and a decent party build I believe that you will find very little beyond your ability to handle. Feel free to give me a PM if you need a hand.

I'll agree it's tough, chiefly because my LB rank is like 2 or 3, but that's engame areas for you. You're about to face a fallen god; of course the area around him is going to be hellish.

It can be slow-going, especially if patrols/quest-related groups add to the mobs you're already facing, but it's not impossible.

The biggest problem in RoT is the closeness of the patrols. Alot of times I end up dying because a patrol that wasn't even on the minimap suddenly sneaks up behind me. The area effects don't really effect me much as I play a necro and even though many of my skills cost at least 15 I have 12 SR with most builds and so energy is never an issue. The increased recharge area is sort of annoying but not so much as I can't get through it.

Honestly, PvE has always been easy in Guild Wars. The Hard Mode/Normal Mode system made things even easier. If you can't get past the RoT, you are bad at this game, simple enough.

There is nothing wrong with the Realm of Torment.

It is not hard in normal mode and hard mode is optional, not required for anything.

The point WHY people do not like this area is because

1.) bad drops
Nothing unique drops there, there are better farming places

2.) graphics style
I found the barren land of postsearing Ascalon depressing enough, the Realm of Torment does not appeal to me. OK, it is meant to be nightmarish. But nobody I ever asked really likes to play in this environment, not even friends of mine who really like the horror genre and dark scenarios.
